Bird Flu Outbreak Confirmed in Telangana: Thousands of Chickens Culled

Hyderabad, March 2025: A bird flu outbreak has been confirmed in poultry farms in Gundrampalli, Nalgonda district, Telangana. Following the detection of avian influenza (H5N1), authorities have taken swift action to contain the spread, culling and burying thousands of infected chickens.

According to reports, between 10,000 to 20,000 chickens have already died due to the virus. Poultry farm owners have confirmed that testing is still ongoing, and any birds testing positive for bird flu are being culled and disposed of in a biosecure manner.

To prevent further spread, authorities have imposed a one-kilometer restriction zone around the infected farms, strictly banning the sale and transportation of poultry within this area. These containment measures are crucial to safeguarding nearby farms and minimizing economic losses to the poultry industry.

Experts urge poultry farmers to adhere to strict biosecurity measures and report any unusual poultry deaths immediately. Consumers are also advised to ensure thorough cooking of poultry products as a safety precaution.

For poultry farmers and businesses, staying informed and following safety protocols is essential to minimizing risks. Eggora remains committed to supporting the poultry industry with the latest updates and best practices to navigate this outbreak effectively.
