Tragedy Strikes Poultry Farm Near Gudiyatham: Over 4,000 Chickens Lost in Early Morning Fire

In a heartbreaking incident early Wednesday morning, a massive fire engulfed a poultry farm in Mudiyanampattu village near Gudiyatham, leading to the death of over 4,000 chickens.

The poultry farm, established by 56-year-old S. Govindaraj on his four-acre paddy field, consisted of three sheds with tin sheet roofing. According to police reports, the fire broke out around 4 a.m. when Mr. Govindaraj noticed smoke emanating from the electrical board in one of the sheds.

Despite his efforts to seek help, the fire spread rapidly and consumed a 300 sq.ft shed within minutes. Fortunately, Mr. Govindaraj managed to escape unhurt and immediately alerted the fire and rescue services. Firefighters from Gudiyatham arrived promptly and were able to control the blaze after nearly an hour of firefighting.

Officials from K. V. Kuppam police station conducted a site inspection, and a case has been registered. Investigations into the exact cause of the fire are currently underway.
