Khutar: In a significant move to promote self-reliance among rural families, the government has launched a scheme encouraging goat rearing and poultry farming. This initiative aims to enhance the income of local residents, especially women, by providing them with resources to establish small-scale livestock businesses.
On Tuesday, under the Backyard Scheme at the Veterinary Hospital, Veterinary Officer Dr. Rajendra Singh distributed 50 chickens and a sack of chicken feed to 15 women. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Singh emphasized that poultry and goat farming can serve as sustainable income sources for women while they manage household responsibilities. He encouraged them to utilize this opportunity to achieve financial independence.
Several women, including Sunita, Beenu Devi, Kalawati, Sarita, Subhavati, Poonam Devi, Gayatri, Kusumkumari, and Kunti Devi, benefited from the scheme. This initiative not only empowers women but also strengthens the local economy by fostering small-scale livestock farming.
With government support, such programs can pave the way for greater economic stability and self-reliance in rural communities.
