Jogulamba Gadwal: In response to rising chicken deaths in Andhra Pradesh, suspected to be caused by avian influenza, the Telangana government has tightened border inspections and barred poultry vehicles from entering the State.
On Tuesday, special veterinary teams were stationed at the Alampur toll plaza to inspect vehicles carrying poultry from Kurnool and other regions. Any such vehicles were turned back. Similar checks were conducted on Monday evening as part of efforts to prevent the virus from spreading into Telangana.
Authorities have also instructed animal husbandry and police officials to strictly enforce the ban on vehicles transporting birds or bird feed from Andhra Pradesh. Poultry farmers, especially in border villages, have been urged to maintain strict hygiene measures to curb any potential outbreak.
This precautionary measure extends beyond Jogulamba Gadwal, with all border districts on high alert to prevent the entry of poultry vehicles from neighboring states, particularly Andhra Pradesh.
